The article that caught my attention right from the beginning was the “G20 security response worrying for democracy: rights group”. This is partly because I witnessed the massive traffic and confusion caused by the protest, and was curious to find out what became of it. It was horrifying to find out that our very own protectors of the law were discriminating against various protestors like they were not proper citizens of Canada. It is only their right to express their feelings, and if there is no real damage being done then why arrest a thousand people? The way the author wrote this article also helped influence my opinion on this topic. She made it clear that she did not support the way the government was handling the situation by only adding in the parts that made the whole idea seem ridiculous. Missing information could be testimonies from the police themselves, stating why exactly they arrested the people that they did, and treated them in that way. Not everyone may agree with each other, but everyone’s views should be regarded equally.
